Kegwa: Kenya, Bottled Sunshine Edition
Meet Kegwa - a bright, berry-packed Kenyan that tastes like someone tipped a handful of blueberries into your cup and called it breakfast.
Flavor Profile: Bright, juicy and berry-forward with a smooth vanilla finish that's basically summer in a mug.
It comes from the Kegwa washing station on the southern slopes of Mt. Kenya, in the famous coffee county of Kirinyaga. Kegwa is part of the Ngiriambu Cooperative Society, made up of local smallholder farmers working tiny family plots - we're talking around 0.1 hectares each. Small farms, seriously mighty coffee.
Grown in rich volcanic soil from the legendary SL28, SL34 and Batian varieties, the cherries are pulped, fermented for 24 hours, washed, and dried slow on raised beds - the classic Kenyan washed process that gives this coffee its sparkle. The result? Juicy blueberry and red berries up front, with a soft vanilla sweetness rounding it all out. Bright, clean, and impossible to put down.
The best part? Every lot is processed separately, so the station keeps full traceability and each harvest keeps its own distinct character. That's care you can taste in the cup.
